Material Performance Profile

Performance Nylon Unfilled - Bambu AMS Compatible

Matter3D Performance Nylon is engineered for demanding functional applications where strength, toughness, and heat resistance matter. Our formulation blends premium PA6 and PA66 resins with a nucleating additive systems to improve dimensional stability, reduce shrinkage, and enhance print performance.

Available in both unfilled and 20% carbon-fiber-reinforced grades, this family delivers exceptional mechanical performance, excellent fatigue resistance, and high thermal capability — ideal for end-use parts, jigs, fixtures, and engineering prototypes.

Key Features

  • Key Features of Matter3D Nylon

    • High Strength & Toughness: Superior mechanical performance compared to PLA, PETG, and ABS.
    • Elevated Heat Resistance: Withstands prolonged exposure to higher temperatures without softening or deformation.
    • Dimensional Stability: Talc nucleation significantly reduces warping and improves print accuracy.
    • Industrial Durability: Excellent wear, abrasion, and fatigue resistance.
    • Premium Resin System: PA6/66 blend optimizes stiffness, creep resistance, and strength.
    • Optional Carbon Fiber Upgrade: The High Temp CF variant delivers extreme stiffness and thermal performance.

Performance Nylon (Unfilled – PA6/66) Notes

  • Slightly more flexible and impact-resistant.
  • Stringing may occur — drying is essential.
  • Ideal for moving parts and snap-fits.

Performance Nylon High Temp CF (20% CF) Notes

  • Higher stiffness → excellent for jigs and structural parts.
  • Slightly reduced impact toughness vs unfilled.
  • Enhanced dimensional stability.
  • Much easier to finish and machine.

Technical Specifications

  • Tensile Strength: 75-90 MPa
  • Impact Strength: 15 J/m
  • Heat Deflection Temp (HDT): 90-95 °C

Quality & Manufacturing

Quality & Manufacturing - Matter3D Nylon

All Matter3D Nylon materials are compounded and extruded in-house in Victoria, British Columbia under tightly controlled conditions. Every batch is precision-dried to maintain low moisture content, melt-filtered to remove contaminants, and monitored with dual-laser diameter control during extrusion.

Carbon fiber dispersion is verified through microscopic inspection and batch stiffness testing, ensuring consistent reinforcement and predictable performance. From raw resin to finished filament, every spool is inspected, weighed, and vacuum-sealed to preserve quality.

FAQ

Nylon Family - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes Matter3D Nylon different from other nylon filaments?

A: Our PA6/66 blend is nucleated for improved dimensional stability and reduced warping. Everything is compounded in-house for consistent flow, mechanical strength, and low moisture content.

Q: Is Nylon stronger than PLA or PETG?

A: Yes. Nylon offers superior toughness, wear resistance, and fatigue performance, making it ideal for functional, load-bearing, and high-duty parts.

Q: When should I choose Nylon CF over unfilled Nylon?

A: Nylon CF provides significantly higher stiffness, higher heat resistance, and better dimensional accuracy. The unfilled version offers maximum toughness and impact resistance.

Q: Does Nylon require an enclosed printer?

A: Strongly recommended. An enclosure improves layer adhesion, reduces shrinkage, and increases print success—especially for larger parts.

Q: Do I need to dry Nylon?

A: Absolutely. Nylon absorbs moisture quickly. Dry at 70 °C for 6–8 hours before printing for best strength, finish, and layer adhesion.

Q: Do I need a special nozzle for Nylon CF?

A: Yes. Carbon-fiber nylon is abrasive—use hardened steel, tungsten carbide, or a ruby nozzle.
