Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between Essential PLA and Premium PLA?
Essential PLA is our low-cost option — pure PLA, no impact modifier, available in 3 kg and 10 kg bulk spools. Premium PLA includes a small PBAT modifier for added toughness.
Do you make other filaments besides PLA?
Yes, we produce PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, and engineering-grade compounds like carbon fiber and glass fiber reinforced filaments.
Can I order bulk filament spools for print farms or schools?
Definitely. Our 3 kg and 10 kg spools are popular with print farms, universities, and classrooms because they cut costs and reduce spool changes.
Do you sell pellets for injection molding or extrusion?
Yes. We supply standard PLA, PETG, and ABS pellets as well as custom compounds for injection molding and extrusion.
Can you do custom colours or specialty compounds?
Yes — we offer colour matching, carbon fiber, glass fiber, ESD, and other specialty formulations.
Where is Matter3D filament made?
All of our products are proudly manufactured in Victoria, BC, Canada.
Is your filament consistent enough for AMS or multi-spool systems?
Yes. With ±0.03 mm tolerance, our spools run smoothly in Bambu AMS and similar automated systems.
What makes your PLA different from cheap imports?
Our PLA is Canadian-made with strict QC. Even our Essentials line is reliable, unlike many low-cost imports with poor tolerances.
Do you offer affordable or budget PLA options?
Yes. Essential PLA is just $13.99/kg, making it one of the most affordable PLA options in Canada.
Can I buy filament wholesale or at distributor pricing?
Yes. We supply resellers, schools, and large print farms at wholesale rates. Contact us for pallet pricing.
Do you ship across Canada and the US?
Yes, we ship daily from Victoria, BC. Most orders leave within 1 business day and arrive quickly across Canada and the US.
What print settings work best for your PLA and PETG?
PLA prints at 190–215 °C with a 50–65 °C bed. PETG runs at 235–250 °C with a 70–90 °C bed. Settings are listed on each product page.
Are your filaments compatible with all printers?
Yes. Our 1.75 mm filament works on all major desktop printers like Bambu, Prusa, Creality, and Raise3D.
Do you provide drying recommendations for your materials?
Yes. PLA dries at 45 °C for 4–6 hours, PETG at 65 °C, and nylons at 70–80 °C.
What is your return or replacement policy if something goes wrong?
If you ever receive filament that doesn’t meet our standards, we’ll replace it or refund you.
Do you sell cheap PLA in bulk packs?
Yes — our Essential PLA is sold in 3 kg and 10 kg bulk spools, priced to be one of the cheapest PLA options in Canada.
Is PLA filament biodegradable?
PLA is derived from renewable resources and is biodegradable under industrial composting conditions.
Do you offer materials for professional prototyping and engineering?
Yes. Our carbon fiber PETG, ABS, and nylon blends are designed for stronger, functional parts.
Do you offer toll compounding services?
Yes — we can compound your supplied materials or additives into pellets, including custom fillers, fibres, and colours.
Why choose Matter3D over overseas suppliers?
